NEBIVOLOL HYDROCHLORIDE
NEBIVOLOL HYDROCHLORIDE: Nebivolol hydrochloride is a medication used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It belongs to a class of drugs called beta blockers. Nebivolol works by blocking the action of certain natural substances in the body such as epinephrine on the heart and blood vessels. This helps to relax and widen the blood vessels, reducing blood pressure.
The recommended starting dose of nebivolol hydrochloride is 5 mg once daily. Your doctor may increase the dose to 10 mg once daily if necessary. The medication can be taken with or without food.
Common side effects of nebivolol hydrochloride may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, and diarrhea. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. However, if they persist or become bothersome, it is important to inform your doctor.
Rare but more serious side effects may include slower heart rate, unusually low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, and worsening heart failure symptoms.
It is important to take nebivolol hydrochloride exactly as prescribed by your doctor and to not stop taking it suddenly without medical supervision, as this can cause a sudden increase in blood pressure. It may take a few weeks before the full benefits of the medication are seen.
Nebivolol hydrochloride should not be used in people with severe liver problems, asthma or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), certain heart conditions such as heart block or sick sinus syndrome, or a known allergy to nebivolol or other beta blockers.
As with any medication, it is important to discuss the potential risks and benefits with your doctor before starting treatment with nebivolol hydrochloride.
