OLOPATADINE

OLOPATADINE: OLOPATADINE is an antihistamine medication commonly used to treat allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and allergic conjunctivitis (eye allergies).

Mechanism of Action: OLOPATADINE works by blocking the effects of histamine, a chemical released by the immune system during an allergic reaction. Blocking histamine helps to reduce symptoms such as sneezing, itching, runny nose, and redness and itching of the eyes.

Dosage: OLOPATADINE is available as a nasal spray and eye drops. The typical recommended dose for allergic rhinitis is 2 sprays in each nostril, taken once or twice daily, with a maximum of 4 sprays per day. For allergic conjunctivitis, one or two drops of eye drops are instilled into the affected eye(s) twice daily.

Side Effects: Common side effects of OLOPATADINE nasal spray include nasal irritation, headaches, nosebleeds, and a bitter taste in the mouth. In some cases, it may cause drowsiness or fatigue. Rarely, it can also cause allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or swelling. With OLOPATADINE eye drops, the most common side effect is temporary burning or stinging sensation upon instillation. Other possible side effects include eye redness, eye itching, dry eyes, and increased sensitivity to light.

It is important to note that while OLOPATADINE can provide relief for allergy symptoms, it is not a cure for allergies. If symptoms persist or worsen, it is recommended to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation and management.
