Description

Composition:

* Esomeprazole 40mg

Pharmacological Classification:

* Proton pump inhibitor (PPI)

Mechanism of Action:

* Inhibits the enzyme H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, suppressing gastric acid secretion.

Indications:

* Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
* Erosive esophagitis
* Helicobacter pylori eradication in combination with antibiotics
* Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Dosage and Administration:

* Usual adult dose: 1 tablet (40mg) once daily
* Dosage may be adjusted based on individual response and severity of condition.

Contraindications:

* Known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or any excipients
* Concomitant use with atazanavir or nelfinavir

Precautions:

* Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment.
* May interfere with the absorption of certain medications, such as iron and vitamin B12.
* Long-term use may increase the risk of bone fractures.

Side Effects:

* Common: Headache, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain
* Uncommon: Vomiting, constipation, flatulence, dizziness, rash
* Rare: Liver damage, interstitial nephritis, angioedema
